Through the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs Committee – a representative group of different businesses and industries around Lakeland – members meet monthly to discuss and actively monitors all levels of government.
Each year, staff and Lakeland Chamber committee members carefully assess issues our city is facing and develop our Legislative Agenda based on feedback from our members, partners in the community, local/state government and educational institutions. Through interviews, research, discussion and debate, we develop positions and advocate at all levels of government and throughout the business community. After careful review of the issues, the Lakeland Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee creates and finalizes the Legislative Agenda which is approved by the board of directors.
