First held in 1986, National Philanthropy Day recognizes the great contributions of philanthropists to their communities – their volunteer service, charitable donations, advocacy efforts, and all the endless daily contributions of individuals and organizations which support countless causes and missions. Throughout Polk County, AFP knows that the spirit of giving is alive and well. National Philanthropy Day provides an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of giving and all that it has made possible locally.
AFP’s new nomination process allows greater equity and recognition of philanthropists at all levels. Instead of the six categories recognized in previous years, nominating organizations submitted up to two nominations: one to be considered for the title of “Individual of the Year” and one for “Corporation of the Year.” Honorees in each category were determined according to their volunteerism and/or philanthropic support of nonprofits and charitable causes within Polk County and will be recognized at the event.
The AFP Greater Polk County Chapter will celebrate its 9th annual National Philanthropy Day with a breakfast and award ceremony beginning 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15 at First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland (175 Lake Hollingsworth Dr). Tickets are available starting at $30 online at https://community.afpglobal.org/flpolk/npd48
