LAKELAND, Fla. — On Thursday, September 8, Southeastern University (SEU) will host a piano recital featuring Italian pianist Paolo André Gualdi at 7:30 p.m. in the Buena Vida West Auditorium at the university’s Lakeland campus.
The recital is free and open to the public.
Gualdi has appeared with national and international orchestras, including the Georgia Philharmonic, Atlanta Philharmonic and the Universidade de Caxias do Sul Symphony Orchestra. He has won awards at numerous piano competitions, including the “De Martino Award” at the Ibla International Piano Competition and First Prize in the 15th Bartók-Kabalevsky International Competition. Gualdi’s works have been recorded by Mark Records and IFO Classics and have been broadcast on BBC, NPR, Clásica 650 and Radio Vaticana.
Gualdi earned his piano diploma with highest honors from the Conservatory Arrigo Boito in Parma, Italy, under Roberto Cappello. He earned his master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University and his Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Georgia. Gualdi currently lectures internationally and serves as an associate professor of music at Francis Marion University and as a music faculty member for the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
