Lakeland, Florida: Up Up and Away Florida, Inc. a 501(c)(3) non-profit, proudly presented Polk County Veterans Council a donation for their upcoming Flight to Honor Mission #8. The Up Up and Away Florida Hot Air Balloon Festival held this past May 2022 was a 3-day event that included hot air balloons, bands, attractions, and vendors. The festival was held on the SUN ‘n FUN Expo Campus on the Lakeland Linder International Airport.

“Our mission is to provide non-profit organizations opportunities to raise funds and awareness for their programs and services” says Ron Clukey, Executive Director of Up Up and Away Florida. “The Polk County Veteran’s Council is an important conduit for the area’s veterans and it’s a privilege to contribute to their next Flight to Honor mission.”

 One of the attractions, Down the Hatchet Ax Throwing, enthusiastically joined in and donated proceeds from an afternoon’s entertainment.  Dawn and Gerrie McCormack, owners of this unique activity, expressed that many of their customers “took some throws” because of Flight to Honor donation opportunity.

Gary Clark, Chairman of the Polk County Veterans Council, expressed his gratitude as funding for next mission will be a challenge. “Our veterans from all the wars and military actions need to know they are appreciated. The Flight to Honor is just one of the ways for our community to show their gratitude to these men and women. We appreciate that Up Up and Away Florida selected our non-profit as a beneficiary of their festival”.

Up Up and Away Florida is actively making plans for 2023 which will be announced in coming weeks.
