LAKELAND, FL (April 27, 2022) – Starting Monday morning, May 2nd, the Wastewater Collection Division will close the intersection of West Lime Street and South Missouri Avenue in order to repair a broken sewer main that has become offset over time.  Sean Russ, Engineer Technician II said, “The old, vitrified clay sewer main is almost 100 years old, so we can probably chalk this one up to old age. The new repair will be a standard pipe coupling using a section of new PVC to replace the old broken section. Once this offset repair has been completed, we will do a full rehabilitation of the sewer pipe with our cure in place lining.”

The work is anticipated to take approximately two days to complete but that is an early estimate before crews see the extent of the damage. The intersection closure will remain in place for the duration of the project. There is a map attached that shows the location of the closure. All appropriate traffic control and detour signage will be in place. During the project, local traffic will have access to areas adjacent to the intersection, but will not be able to proceed through the intersection.
