Winners and their guests will be invited to attend an awards dinner in May.

The 1st place winner’s artwork will be sent to Sister Cities International in Washington D.C. where it will be entered into the national competition.  Winners of this competition will receive an award of $1,000!

Artists and authors, ages 13-18 from Lakeland-area schools have been invited to submit work.  The theme for Sister Cities International’s 2022 Young Artists Showcase is:

“Generation Rescue: Sustainable Water for All”

In line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, Sister Cities International (SCI) will adopt climate change as the overarching theme. SCI is proud to invite all its youth members to create submissions that highlight the importance of climate change and its impact on water resources.

  • What does water sustainability mean to you?
  • How has your community been affected by climate change and water disruption?
  • How can you, as a future leader contribute to the solution?

Lakeland Sister Cities International (LSCI), a chapter of Sister Cities International, was formed in 1990.  The mission of LSCI is to develop relationships with people and cities of similar interests to Lakeland from around the world.  This unique program encourages cultural and educational exchanges, business opportunities and increased tourism by encouraging direct personal and professional relationships at the grass roots level.

Harrison School for the Arts has been hosting this show for the past several years in partnership with Lakeland Sister Cities International.  The first place winners in the local Young Artists and Young Authors competitions are entered in the national “Sister Cities” art and authors competitions.  For more information on Harrison School for the Arts visit www.harrisonarts.com and for more information on Sister Cities International visit https://www.lakelandgov.net/government/sister-cities/
