Polk County Utilities Bio-Wizards team took third place in the Division III category at the Water Environment Federation’s 34th Annual Operations Challenge Competition in Chicago.
The Bio-Wizards were one of 32 teams from across the country that competed in five events, which included process control, laboratory, safety, collection systems and KSB maintenance. The team, which also won for the best hard hat design, included Jeff Goolsby, Cody Diehl, Dave McGrotty, Ed Clark and Coach Chuck Nichols. The competition was held Oct. 18 and 19 at McCormick Place’s South Hall in Chicago.
“I’m really proud of our team and how they represented Polk County Utilities,” said Utilities Director Tamara Richardson. “While competitions like these are a lot of fun, they also test our knowledge, skills and ability to respond to a number of different situations to better serve our communities.”
