Media Opportunity: COVID-19 Vaccination Event on Saturday for Polk School Employees
Polk County Public Schools, in partnership with the Florida Department of Health in Polk County, will be conducting a vaccination event this weekend for school employees.
News media are invited to cover vaccinations taking place on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Teddra Porteous, the school district’s associate superintendent of Human Resources Services, will serve as the on-site contact for news media and will be available for comment.
RSVPs are appreciated for planning purposes. You can RSVP by emailing jason.geary@polk-fl.net
IMPORTANT: This vaccination event is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY for current school employees in Polk County who are age 50 or older. They must register in advance and schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are not accepted.
Lake Region High will serve as the vaccination site. Rather than using a drive-thru format, the vaccine will be distributed to employees indoors to account for any possible inclement weather conditions.
The event will be offering school employees a choice between the Johnson & Johnson vaccine (one shot) or the Moderna vaccine (two shots given 28 days apart).
