– A virtual meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, March 4 to discuss the proposed attendance boundaries for Bella Citta Elementary, our new school being built in Davenport. The Zoom video conference meeting will begin at 5 p.m. Bella Citta Elementary is scheduled to open in August 2021 and will serve up to 996 students in the fast-growing East Polk area. – More than 50 people submitted applications to replace Superintendent Jacqueline Byrd, who is retiring in June. After reviewing nearly 1,000 pages of applications, members of the Citizens Screening Committee settled on their top seven recommendations. The school board will discuss who should become semifinalists during their work session and meeting on March 9. Boucher, a teacher at Daniel Jenkins Academy, has taught for 21 years, but her switch a few years ago to environmental science sparked a love of gardening. She began incorporating a mobile greenhouse in her lessons, then a full-scale greenhouse on campus, then vertical gardening projects.
