Polk County Public Schools is ready to spotlight our outstanding teachers and school staff with a special celebration tomorrow (Jan. 21).

The 2021 Teacher and School-Related Employee of the Year ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The event will be livestreamed on the district’s YouTube channel.

The Polk Education Foundation and the district’s Department of Public Relations & Strategic Partnerships collaborate to present the Teacher and School-Related Employee of the Year. This year, they consulted with the Florida Department of Health in Polk County to develop a pandemic-safe version of the event, which is being held at the RP Funding Center’s Lake Hollingsworth Room.

Dinner and student performances have been eliminated to shorten the duration of the ceremony. Face coverings will be worn at all times.

The event will be attended by less than 100 people; the guest list includes nominees and their plus-ones, their principals, Polk County School Board members, event sponsors, the superintendent and deputy superintendent.

During the ceremony, nominees will be recognized with video tributes and sponsored gifts. The Teacher of the Year and School-Related Employee of the Year will receive a cash prize generously donated by MIDFLORIDA Credit Union.
