PCPS Offering Virtual Forum Nov. 2-6 as Part of Superintendent Search

Polk County Public Schools is offering members of the community a chance to participate in the search for a new superintendent — virtually.

A virtual forum will be open from Nov. 2-6 and can be accessed by visiting polkschoolsfl.com/supersearch

Virtual forum participants will be asked to answer the same questions that were posed during in-person forums held earlier in the month. Those questions include:

  • What are three strengths of Polk County Public Schools that the new superintendent will need to understand and continue to support?
  • What are three critical needs of the district that the new superintendent will need to understand and address?
  • What personal characteristics should the board look for in the new superintendent?
  • What professional experience should the board look for in the new superintendent?
  • What other skills should the board look for in the new superintendent?

The virtual forum takes about 10 minutes to complete.

In addition to the virtual forum, members of the community may offer their feedback on the superintendent search by completing an online survey.

The deadline to complete the survey is Nov. 12.

To access the survey and the latest information on our superintendent search, visit polkschoolsfl.com/supersearch

Data gathered from the survey and virtual forum will be used to determine the qualities and experience the school district is looking for in its next superintendent.

In May, Superintendent Jacqueline Byrd announced her retirement, which is now effective June 30, 2021. PCPS has contracted with the Florida School Boards Association to conduct the search for her successor.
